Be A Kids Voting Youth Civic Leader this Fall

Kids Voting Durham (KVD)  is looking for young people age 14-24 join the KVD Youth Civic Leaders team this fall.  Volunteers who want to deepen or develop their outreach, design, and community-building skills while empowering other youth to be civically engaged will find this a rewarding experience. All opportunities offer a chance work remotely and independently on some projects, but will also have virtual group sessions and optional in-person components, including events.   Youth Civic Leaders will develop and implement strategies to get out kid and first-time voters in Durham, design and co-host a possible candidate forum, run Kids Voting events for younger youth, and manage Kids Voting election sites, as well as other projects. Youth have the opportunity to learn new skills and deepen existing ones while creating materials and resources that are valued by youth, educators, and leaders in the community.  Youth will join a fun, inclusive team environment where youth voice is valued and youth have a genuine decision-making role.

TIME:  2-8 hours/week, early September-end November (dates are flexible); there will be 2-4 all-team zoom meetings each month (days to be determined based on best times for group) for planning plus small team and independent work

QUALIFICAITONS

·     Age 14-24

·      Willingness to be non-partisan in carrying out Kids Voting assignments and representing the organization

·       Ability to work independently and with a peer group
