YOUTH SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES FALL 2021

Kids Voting Durham, a non-partisan organization that seeks to help young people understand & believe in the power they have as engaged citizens and informed voters, is are looking for youth, 13-23, to serve as volunteers to help develop civic engagement materials, including Kids Voting’s widely used Election Guide, for other youth.   For Fall 2021, all service opportunities will be mostly virtual, a mix of group activities at set times and/or independent work and optional in person outreach work. Youth service volunteers will work individually or on a project team and should be interested in doing work in one or more of the following areas:

  • Research & writing Outreach & Education
    Video production & editing/ Multimedia Graphic Design/Info
    Social Media/Instagram Guide Administrative Support

 

Youth service volunteers will:

  • Receive service hours & leadership experience
  • Use your voice & ideas to make a difference
  • Have opportunity to interact with government officials and other Durham leaders
  • Be partnered with adult allies who are experienced in their field to serve as supports and sources of support and advice

 

Interested youth should:

  • Be comfortable working in groups and independently
  • Be willing to share opinions and ideas and to learn from each other
  • Be willing to commit 2+/week for 8 weeks or 20 hours total for a project
  • No previous experience is required
