A LETTER TO DURHAM’S YOUTH
As youth in Durham, we want you to know about the importance of the upcoming election. Youth aged 18 and under make up about 30% of the population in Durham, and we deserve to have a voice. Through youth participation, we can make a difference.
Local government is instrumental in our day-to-day lives, and it’s important for Durham’s youth to be aware of important issues in our community. Our elected officials decide how to bring about change in the community.
We are the future of Durham, and we need to be more involved. Elected officials listen to youth. They answer the questions we ask and respond to our requests, and they’ll engage with you, too. Most candidates in this election responded to the questions Durham youth asked. They listened to us, and they’ll listen to you, too. All you have to do is use your voice.
