Educators and School Groups

TOOLS FOR TEACHING RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP

Kids Voting Durham offers a wide array of resources to support education on active citizenship, democracy, and elections in the classroom and other learning settings, such as youth groups, after-school programs, and home schools.

Educators can:

  • Offer an in-school voting opportunity to your students.  Kids Voting Durham will provide materials (including ballots and voting booths) and training to any Durham County K-12 schools that wish to hold any authentic voting experience for their students in this November’s Mayoral and City Council Elections.  Contact us or call Carolyn Kreuger at 560-7321 for more information.

  • Download the Kids Voting Teachers’ Guide for tips on getting your students excited about their role as citizens.  COMING SOON: a 2007 Durham Election Guide for Educators.  Durham’s upcoming Mayoral and City Council Elections are the ideal opportunity to help your students become aware of local issues and key electoral offices.

  • Get Kids Voting training.  Kids Voting will provide training on its curriculum and civics education activities to group of educators from K-12 schools and home schooling families. Contact us or call Carolyn Kreuger at 560-7321 for more information.

  • Give us feedback.  Kids Voting Durham is constantly reviewing and refining the services it provides.  Let us know what new or improved services you’d like to see from us.
