Adopt A Precinct

Organizations and individuals are needed to lead over 50 precinct locations throughout Durham on Election volunteer quoteDay in order for all our community’s youth to have the chance to experience voting!  This is a great way to serve Durham’s children.

Community organizations, school groups, parent/student teams, student groups and youth 16 & older are encouraged to participate by adopting a precinct and helping student voters take part in voting activities each November Election.

Running a Kids Voting site is rewarding and fun.  Participating organizations and individuals are recognized at their polling site and in Kids Voting publicity.  It’s easy to get started, just:

1 Choose A Precinct 2

Assign A Captain

3

Recruit Volunteers

Kids Voting staff can help you choose one or more precincts that are close to your home, school, or organization.  Durham has over 55 polling sites that need to be adopted to give all our community’s kids a chance to participate.

Assign a volunteer to serve as the Precinct Captain.  The Captain will manage volunteers on and before Election Day, ensure that the polling site is set up and taken down, and serve as the primary contact for the precinct.  The Captain will receive training and materials from Kids Voting.

Each adopted precinct will need 6-10 volunteers to run the polls from 7-9 am and 3-7 pm on Election Day as well as to set up the polling site, deliver ballots, and help with tallying.

Join Us!  This is your opportunity to provide a valuable experience for Durham’s youth and strengthen democracy now and for future voters.
